  1. Welcome to the Conflict Catcher™ 4.1 Update
  2.  
  3. The "Conflict Catcher 4.1 Update" will update previous versions of Conflict Catcher 4 to version 4.1. It will not update versions of Conflict Catcher 3 (please contact Casady Greene to to upgrade to Conflict Catcher 4.1).

  6. Requirements:
  7. • Five (5) MB of free hard disk space for installation (Conflict Catcher actually uses 1.6 MB of disk space)

  9. • Conflict Catcher 4 must already be installed, or you will need your original Conflict Catcher 4 master disk

  12. How to Update your previous version of Conflict Catcher 4 to version 4.1:
  13. 1) Run the application "Conflict Catcher 4.1 Update".
  14.  
  15. 2) If Conflict Catcher 4 is not installed, then you will be prompted to locate your original Conflict Catcher control panel. You can insert your original Conflict Catcher 4 floppy disk and locate the control panel in the Conflict Catcher™ folder.

  17. 3) Click OK when you get to the splash screen.

  19. 4) Select the volume you want to install onto and click on "Install".

  21. 5) When the installation is completed click on "Restart".

  23. Installation options:
  24. If you launch "Conflict Catcher 4.1 Update" while holding down the "Option" key, the installation will proceed normally and a Conflict Catcher folder will be left on your hard drive. This folder contains a full Conflict Catcher 4.1 installer, which you can use for subsequent installations.

  27. What's new in Conflict Catcher 4.1?

  29. • Complete Mac OS 8.1 support
  30. Conflict Catcher 4.1 is fully compatible with Mac OS 8.1. Conflict Catcher has improved its support for the Appearance Manager.

  32. • Enhanced Group Links  
  33. Conflict Catcher now supports single-item Group Links and allows completely overlapping Group Links.

  35. • Improved Compare Set
  36. Compare Set now underlines differing files (making them more easily distinguished).

  38. • Updated Reference Library
  39. The CC Reference Library has been updated, including its Web Menu, Links, and Mac OS 8.1 Sets.

  41. • Enhanced Conflict Test
  42. When specifying intuition or locking files on for a Conflict test you can now magnify any startup file.

  44. • Can display all files for all file types
  45. An option for Conflict Catcher to display all files of file types that are built into Conflict Catcher in included.  Some files have file types that specify they should only be displayed when an 'INIT' resource is present.  This option allows users to indicate that all files should be displayed, regardless of whether an 'INIT' resource is present.

  47. • Support for build-in vendor information
  48. Supports a new vend resource to allow developers to specify their own vendor information. Resource Type: 'vend', Resource ID: -20640, and a 'TMPL' resource is located in Conflict Catcher to help developers create their own resources. Documentation is available from Casady & Greene, Inc. at "http://www.casadyg.com/c&g/products/cc4/reflib/techinfo.html".

  50. • Improved display of files and folders in color
  51. Files displayed in color are more noticeable. Folders are now displayed in color.

  53. • Improved copying of file descriptions
  54. When copying a file description (magnify a file and type "Command-C"), the filename and size are now copied into the clipboard along with the rest of the file information.

  56. • Improved System Report
  57. The volume format is now displayed as "HFS" or "HFS Plus" in the volume information area. The PowerPC G3 processor is now recognized.

  59. • Additional file and folder support
  60. Contextual Menu Items, Location Modules, and AppleTalk extensions are now supported by default.

  62. • Improved compatibility for the Macintosh Classic
  63. All dialogs are now displayed properly on the Classic.
